Alaric is tall, about 6'1", and he's of average weight for his height, with broad shoulders. He's muscular but not too buff and bulky, with strong and toned arms, carved abs, and muscular legs. His hands are big with lots of callouses because he's always using them for something. He usually wears size 13 tennis shoes over his large feet. He's afraid to wear sandals because he is missing the pinky toe on his left foot. He was riding his bike on the beach one day and he was wearing sandals, and when he was pedaling his toe got caught in the chain and was cut off. He's extremely self-conscious about it. He's also afraid to ride a bike now.

Alaric has a clear complexion, marred by a long brown birthmark. It looks like a wide scratch mark, as if someone had used a fingernail to dig into his skin. It runs from the right hinge of his jaw next to his ear, all the way down his neck to the top of the right side of his collarbone.

He has dark brown hair that is usually spiky. His warm dark brown eyes are accented by long brown eyelashes and thick dark eyebrows. Most girls call him attractive or handsome or cute, but Alaric doesn't care because he doesn't really want a girlfriend.

Alaric is very independent and adventurous. He's very curious and likes to explore everything. He enjoys learning about the world around him and he's always searching for more knowledge about it. He often likes to ask himself questions just so that he can find the answers.

Freedom is very important to Alaric. He hates being 'caged up' and he likes being able to do what he wants whenever he wants. Sometimes he'll make decisions based solely on how much freedom that is given by the choice he's making. As a result, he doesn't like to make long-term commitments. He doesn't like the responsibility that goes along with them.

Alaric is very kind-hearted and positive, and he makes a good friend because he'll do anything to make sure a friend is happy. When he does something for someone, he hardly ever expects a favor in return. He is never possessive or jealous, and he never holds grudges because he sees them as a commitment of sorts, and again, he doesn't like commitment.

He has a good sense of humor, and sometimes his humor is the raw truth because he always speaks his mind and doesn't hold anything back. He doesn't hide things or keep too many secrets. He speaks the truth like he seeks the truth. What he says is what he means, because he likes straightforwardness and he usually likes to receive it as well. Sometimes he speaks the 'painful truth', and it can hurt peoples' feelings, but on the other hand people know they can trust what he says because he's so honest.

Alaric is good at many things, but nothing that requires commitment. He doesn't like to be tied down to things. He doesn't like to do anything too hard or boring, or anything that requires details, and he tends to procrastinate on things. Crisis brings out the best in him, though, and he performs best under pressure.

He's not an emotionally moody person, and he can sometimes be just downright emotionally detached. He doesn't like to dwell too much on emotions because emotional problems tie people down. Other may sometimes be hurt by his lack of commitment to relationships, but he doesn't care about that too much. Even though Alaric isn't an emotional person, he gets hurt when people are mean and selfish towards him. He still doesn't dwell on it or hold grudges, he feels it's a waste of time and he hates wasting time.

Alaric has never really hated the Hunger Games, but he's never really liked them either. He doesn't like to fight people for no reason; he thinks it's a waste of time and energy. He'd much rather be doing something more productive. If the situation was presented, though, and if he were selected as a tribute, he would probably stand a good chance. He's good at throwing spears and at close-range fighting with swords. He's not bad at tying knots, either; his parents taught him how to when he younger.

Alaric has a problem with finishing things that he's started. If a project takes too long, he'll move onto something else. This isn't necessarily because he's lazy, just because he hates to be bored and he always has a strong motivation to move on. He has a fear of boredom and instead of facing it, he'll often up and leave and move on to something more exciting.

Alaric can often be reckless and irresponsible because he likes to try new things. He'll often do something dangerous or risky before weighing the consequences or thinking about what might happen. This can cause him to get hurt. He just loves to try new things and hates being bored.

A lot of people don't like Alaric because he's so emotionally detached sometimes. They feel that he just doesn't care sometimes, which isn't always necessarily true. This is why he's never had an actual committed relationship with a girl before. Sure, he's gone out with girls, but he's never had a girlfriend for longer than three weeks. He gets especially scared when girls talk about the future, because he doesn't want to make commitments to anything. He also doesn't like to be friends with people who are lazy. He loves to have companions that will be up and moving with him, people that are active and that like activities.

Another thing that bothers people about Alaric is his straightforwardness. He speaks his mind all the time and he often hurts peoples' feelings with the cold hard truth. He doesn't think before he speaks his mind or shares his opinions.


Likes: Alaric enjoys running, swimming, climbing, and pretty much everything else that involves being active. Even though he loves to learn things and discover things and explore, he doesn't like to learn by reading books. He can't sit still long enough to take the time to read a book. He likes the color red because it's bold and exciting. He likes people that aren't too clingy and people that don't talk too much about their feelings and emotions.

Dislikes: Alaric hates to be bored, and he hates to sit down and relax. He has to be up and moving all the time. He doesn't like people that talk too much about their feelings. It's not that he doesn't care, it's just that he doesn't like to talk about emotions because he doesn't want to have to worry about anything. He likes to be care free and able to do whatever he wants without emotions tying him down. He also dislikes commitment. And wearing sandals.

Alaric Ryan Grey was born on the chilly morning of November 27, at precisely 7:23 AM. His family had been one of the more fortunate ones in District 4; they had plenty of money. As soon as the baby boy was brought home, he was showered in toys and clothes and blankets and everything else a baby could want. His parents had plenty of money to buy food for their only child, and he grew to be a healthy young boy.

When he was a baby, he would roll all over the floor until he could crawl. Then, he crawled all over the place and got into everything. His parents had to childproof the house by the time he learned to walk; they had to put child locks on all the door handles and cupboards because he would always open them and take out things he wasn't supposed to. He even has a scar on his little finger from where he stole the dental floss from the cupboard in the bathroom and wrapped it around his finger too tight. He was lucky it didn't cut off his circulation.

By the time Alaric was 5, his father had taught him how to swim. He became rather good at it, and soon he wanted to race his friends all the time in the water. He didn't always win, but he loved it nonetheless.

He learned to fish when he was 7. His father and mother would take him to the dock where they kept their fishing boat, and they taught him how to bait a hook and where the best places were to cast his line. He wasn't very good at it; he didn't have the patience for fishing and he had a hard time sitting still.

He started training as a career when he was 12. He was well-fed and he worked hard so he soon became strong and muscular. He enjoyed training; it involved being active and he was never bored with it. He wasn't sure whether or not he liked the reason he was training, though.

When Alaric was 15, he began helping his mother out in the family's tackle and bait shop. He sold fishing supplies because he was hopeless at fishing. He didn't like working in the shop much either; it involved responsibility and he hated responsibility. It also involved standing behind a counter for most of the day, which was really boring.

When he was sixteen, he was riding his bike along the beach on a hot summer afternoon. He was wearing sandals, and the little toe on his left foot got caught in the chain. It was cut off, and he was rushed to a hospital. They couldn't save his toe, so now he only has 9 of them. He doesn't like to ride bicycles or wear sandals.

His father, Aaron, is a fisherman who works on a small boat. He is a good fisherman, though, and he usually brings in a good haul each evening when he comes home. Alaric hardly ever sees him anymore because when he's not working, Alaric is usually outside with his friends, doing something else. Alaric and his father have a good relationship despite their differences. Aaron is a tall hairy man with a gruff voice and thick eyebrows that make him look like he's frowning all the time, but he's actually a very pleasant person.

Alaric's mother, Baylee, works at the tackle and bait shop that her father passed down to her. She makes a good bit of money, and the family has never had a bad shortage of food. Baylee is a short, tired woman with blue eyes and light brown hair streaked with grey. She is usually happy, though, and you will rarely see her frowning. She likes to hum and whistle while she works on things.
