James is tall, standing comfortably at 6'2 and weighs about 170 pounds. He is not a weight lifter, but he definitely has some muscles, especially in his long arms and legs. Just because he is tall and strong does not mean he is a lumbering klutz; he is rather coordinated, and while his sprinting is poor, he could be one heck of a long distance runner. His feet are enormous, and his hands are relatively large as well. His skin is olive with a slight tan.

James' face is rectangular, like a stone, with no sign of the acne from his younger years. The slightly crooked nose and dark furrowing eyebrows make it appear as though he questioning something. When he grins, it usually looks like he is smirking at you, unless he shows his teeth. His eyes are extremely dark brown with gold flecks, but everyone thinks that they are black for some reason. He has short brown hair that goes into messy waves. He has an earring in his right ear- a thin copper-silver hoop.

James doesn't dress as flamboyantly as the other people from District 2. A buttoned long/ short sleeve shirt along with dark jeans is usually it. If it's cold, he may wear a dark jacket on top. He wear sneakers or dress shoes. His clothes are either white, grey, black, blue, or red. He does not wear makeup, dye his hair, or have any jewelery (Other than his earring). Some girls find him attractive, but he is certainly not the most handsome guy in District 2.

James is alot of things, but the biggest trait is intelligent. When it comes to politics or social issues, he is in his element. He loves a good debate, and gets very passionate in the heat of discussion. Sarcasm and wit both come naturally to him, and uses them frequently. He has an opinion on most things, and though he is open to other people's thoughts, it takes alot of convincing to change his mind.

But he is not one to just go talking all the time. No, he is generally calm. James will not get involved in trivial matters unless it becomes necessary. To a stranger or acquaintence, James may seem indifferent of nonchalent. Only those who talk to him or are close to him know of his lively nature. But everyone notices the inner confidence he seems to exude, this confidence becoming infectious as time goes on. His confidence is what keeps him going, but combined with his stubborness makes him a difficult person at times.

For those who do know him, James is a person deeply loyal to his family and friends. He is protective of those close to him, and would do anything for them. He is also a natural leader, but he dislikes being placed into a leadership role as he doesn't like the idea of failing everyone as a leader. He has rigid morals, and is not flexible when it comes to them.

Finally, James feels things very strongly. When angered, his rage is unbridled, violent, and sometimes seems unstoppable. When he snaps out of it, he sincerely regrets his actions. James does not cry, but you can tell when he is sad or in pain. He keeps his fears and concerns to himself, but his happiness, like his confidence, is infectious.

James was born into the High Class life of District 2. His mother owns a fashion line while his father is the District's Head Peacekeeper. James has 3 siblings; His older sister Crystalline (25-A socialite in the Capitol), older brother Tristanus (22-Peacekeeper), and younger brother Quinn (15).

James originally had a 4th sibling- a little sister named Ambrosia who was 5 years younger than him. Ambrosia was born a tiny, sick child, diagnosed with Downe's Syndrome. People were disgusted by her. But James loved his little sister very much, and did not care what the others said. To him, she was his angel, a pure, kind hearted being who saw everything as being beautiful.

When James was 10, Ambrosia caught the flu, and became extremely sick as a result. Her already weak body was detiorating, and in a week she was lying in a hospital bed, the doctors shaking their heads. His parents ignored their sick child, as though they were relieved that she was on the verge of death. James sat by her side always, holding her chubby little hand until her body was taken to the morgue. From that moment on, he grew apart from his uncaring parents, and has held onto the memory of his sister ever since.

From the time he was born, James was expected to become a Peacekeeper. That is, as long as one of his older siblings were Reaped and sent off to win the Hunger Games. But when he was 12, and both his siblings failed to be Reaped, the responsibility to become a Victor fell to him, and his younger bother. So now since he was 12 he has ordered tesserae for the family to increase his chances of entering, and everyone expects him to be reaped this year. He prays that he is not reaped though; he would rather go study politics or become a Peacekeeper than have to go kill some people in an Arena for the 'Glory' of becoming a Victor.

Hates being called by his first name- thinks its pompous and too fancy. Calling him Calx is asking for a beating, so for your own sake, call him James.
