Brilliant is a short and somewhat plump -- not fat -- for her age. She weighs about 120 pounds, measures in at 5'1", and has a medium build. Her hair is waist length, blonde, and is naturally wavy, though she tends to wear it up in a messy pony tail or bun most of the time, she doesn't like it in her face.


She is sixteen years old, her mother and father -- Cadence and Flash Spectrol -- are jewelers who create beautiful, ornate pieces of jewelry for the people of the Capitol, and are used to dealing with more "high end" clientele. Brilliant has a passion for weaving simple necklaces with the spare gold and silver chains that her father has lying around the house.



The girl is extremely gifted with her hands -- she can move them fast, work through tough knots in tiny pieces of thread and chain, and they are more steady than most -- and has a well-taught patience that she learned from her father.



She has pale, pea green eyes that are just a little too close together, and she never wears makeup. Though her skin has "flaws" -- freckles that play around her nose and cheeks -- she is proud of how she looks and doesn't like the overdone look that most women around her have.



Brilliant dresses casually; she likes simple clothing that is easy to move around in. Her favorite thing to wear is dresses, she wears them nearly all year round and has many in her favorite color -- which is green, but not quite as light as her eyes -- to wear for every occasion. When she is not wearing a dress [most of them, by the way, are about knee length for comfort] she is probably wearing a simple pair of slacks and a loose fitting shirt and jacket. She likes to look nice, but comfort wins over fashion for her, even against her parent's wishes.

She loves to climb trees and play. For her age, many see Brilliant as immature, but she can be serious when it is needed and expected. She is a fairly good student, though she'd describe herself as no more than average, and she loves to listen to people talk. She finds games like Hide and Seek exhilarating, but would much prefer to simply sit high up in a tree and watch the birds and the clouds roll by.




Brilliant Spectrol is, simply put; a simple minded girl with very little fear of, well, anything. She is sweet in nature, quiet, friendly, if not a little absent minded.





Brilliant is a very kind girl, she is sweet and simple minded, generally friendly, and quick to trust. She'd rather play children's games than sit in a school classroom, but she does her best in her studies and is an average student.



In her community Brilliant is not quite as well known as her parents; she tends to be more on the quiet side than the talkative, but she'll talk if the time presents itself. People have called her unnoticeable, because she can be fairly nondescript when she wants to be.



But, she can stand out. She is a pretty girl, naturally, but her lack of fashion sense and love for the Capitol makeup trends tend to make people -- particularly women -- steer clear. She is happy with who she is, and has never wanted to use makeup to make her look different.



Though she is kind and friendly, she does have her moments. She tends to blurt things out when she isn't supposed to, and when she wants to talk she tends to talk to much. Brilliant has no filter, and it has gotten her in trouble many times before. Her physical flaws are, as many see them, her freckles [which she likes], a birthmark behind her ear that is rarely seen, and her eyes are too close together for what most seem pretty.



Personality wise her flaws are that she tends to talk too much when she does talk, but she can also be far too quiet. She loves people, but Brilliant tends to ostracize herself at times by climbing up in trees and hiding, and she is quite childish when it comes right down to it.

Brilliant's mother, Cadence Dunbrill, married young to the jeweler Flash Spectrol. When the two wed she was eighteen and he was twenty. They'd grown up on the same street, their parents had known each other, and traded jewels and secrets and helped each other's businesses through the years -- both families were jewelers, but crafted different types of items.



When Cadence and Flash married, it was a union of the two companies, small as they were, that created the popular Spectrol Jeweler name today. Though their fathers and mothers have since passed -- various disease and accidents over the years -- they have a small, happy family now.



Brilliant was born three years after their marriage, and Cadence and Flash could not have possibly been any happier. When Brilliant was a child, though, she gave her parents quite the scare. She'd crawl into small spaces and hide, thinking it a game, or crawl up far too high for a child when she was able to get her legs to work in such a way.



As she grew up, Brilliant's mother tried to get her to do her makeup like the trendiest in the Capitol, tried to get her to wear the nicest clothes they could afford and speak the way the people in the Capitol did. Brilliant didn't like it; she'd wash off the makeup, strip off the clothes and switch them, and talk the way she wanted to talk.



"Nobody could ever be," her mother would tell her. "Quite as Brilliant as little old me." The quote became a sort of joke, when people would ask for the girl's name, she would say the rhyme instead of simply saying her name.




She isn't self contained like most girl's her age, but she is extremely self aware. Brilliant can read people, but she doesn't like to socialize unless it is absolutely necessary.



Brilliant's father, Flash, discovered her talent for chain-weaving one day while the girl sat behind the counter of his jewelry store after school. She'd asked for something to play with, and he'd given her two simple, unappealing pieces of broken chain from an old necklace. After working out the knots and kinks, Brilliant took the pieces of unworkable chain and weaved them into a lovely little bracelet.



It was decided then that she would help make the jewelry when the time came for her to do so. She is to begin her apprenticeship at her father's shop, under his direction of course, when she is old enough to do so.

I have had several years of experience roleplay, just not on forums like this. I have been para-roleplaying since 2004 on Xanga [on and off, but for the majority of that time] and have been roleplaying Brilliant on a separate story line there.
