Damien isn't bad looking. He has thin, shaggy, dirty-blonde hair that comes down a little past the tops of his ears. He's small for his age, about 4'9" and, despite the fact that he has been well-fed all his life, he's super skinny, all traits that cause the other kids to make fun of him. He's got pleasant, light brown eyes and long but thin eyelashes. The one thing he likes the most about his appearance is that his skin shows no signs of acne. It's even and clear. Dimples appear on his cheeks when he smiles, showing his nice and white teeth. There's a small brown mole above the left side of his thin lips. His right ear is a little bit higher up than the left and his thumbs aren't the exact same length, either, not that it really matters or anything.

He's not very strong, his arms are like twigs compared to a lot of the other kids in his neighborhood. Damien has a mild case of exercise-induced asthma, meaning he can't exert himself over long periods of time without having an asthma attack. He's not looking forward to going into training. His parents have a lot of money, so he's usually seen wearing nice clothes. His favorite thing to wear is a plain navy blue t-shirt and some jeans, he looks best in darker colors. His favorite accessory is a black fedora.

All the taunting from other kids in his neighborhood about his height and scrawny figure has caused Damien to become quiet and reserved unless he is around someone he knows really well. He's very shy, and doesn't like to speak his mind, even though he can have very good ideas about things. He is scared of being beaten up by his peers and tries to avoid fighting as much as possible. If he is in a dangerous situation, though, he will defend himself if absolutely necessary.

Damien is the kind of guy who prefers reading books and learning to fighting and being outside. He's kind of a wuss, and the outside world scares him. He prefers the world inside the stories he reads while he is within the safety of his own home to the real world outside.

Some of the cons and negatives about Damien: He's shy, as I've already said. He has no common sense, or street smarts. He doesn't have that many friends to talk with about his problems. When he's mad, he lashes out on inanimate objects, breaking things in his room and throwing pillows at the walls, screaming at the ceiling and at his parents. He isn't a good fighter or even a good conversationalist; he sometimes mumbles and rambles when he speaks. He doesn't have many talents at all.

Some of the pros and positives about Damien: He is a beautiful singer, that's the one thing he can do really well. He's not rude to the people he can work up the nerve to talk to, and generally has good intentions even though he sometimes can hurt peoples' feelings by not thinking about things before saying them. He is a fast runner, even though he doesn't look it. He just can't run for long periods of time because of his asthma. His antisocial nature has given him a lot of time to think, and though he has no common sense he has book smarts and he's a relatively quick thinker.

Likes and Dislikes: Damien loves reading, the color red, hats, singing, and potato soup. He dislikes fighting, arguing, and going out on the streets, breaking rules, and talking to strangers. He doesn't like to try new things, either; it takes a lot of convincing to gt him to do something he hasn't tried before.

Damien comes from a household with a lot of money, as is the usual in his district. He has never gone hungry, never been too cold at night, he's always had everything he needed. He lives in a nice two-story house that lies next to the family business. His favorite room is the private 'library' his parents made for him, which is basically three full and tall bookshelves of books in a small room, with a comfy red armchair and a lamp in a corner for him to read in. His parents and older brother work in the family jewelry shop, making luxury items such as rings and necklaces, earrings, etc. for the capitol.

Born on July 7, Damien seemed to have been brought into the perfect life. He was the typical bouncing baby boy, with the curly blonde locks of hair and the huge light brown eyes. He was constantly moving around; even before he could crawl he was rolling all over the place. His mother and father gave him all the attention in the world, and they bought him so many toys that they had to have a room all their own. Damien had an older brother that, even though he slightly envied the new baby, loved and adored him. 

When Damien was four, his father taught him to read. Looking back, it was one of the only things that Damien's father had done that Damien was thankful for. Aside from feeding him and making money to support the family, his father was pretty much a lazy bum. Anyway, Damien was a very advanced reader for his age, and it is his favorite thing to do even to this day. 

When Damien started school, he made a few friends. They would hang out at recess and come over to his house to play with his toys. Damien later realized that he had barely anything in common with these friends, but at least they were good company. 

When he was about nine or ten, his friends left him. Damien was labeled "That kid who reads a lot" and "Damien, the stupid kid who won't punch back, so it's okay to beat him up." Damien wasn't good at sports, his muscles were pretty much nonexistent, and he didn't like to fight. He never wanted to be a  Career.  Other kids liked to use "the nerd" as a punching bag, and he never defended himself. He had no friends to help him out, so he just ended up running away. He was a fast runner, but he couldn't run for long periods of time because of his asthma. 

One thing he could do well, though, was that he could sing. His mother always used to sing when he was little while she cleaned the house, and he learned the songs and sang along. He never sang in public, though, only in his house or in the shower. His family were the only ones who knew of his talent besides him.

By the time he was 12, Damien had resorted to taking shortcuts home after school. This prevented him from getting his butt kicked by the other kids from school, but he was still afraid. So afraid in fact that he would never go outside except to go to school unless his parents forced him. He stayed inside, reading books and trying to escape to a world better than his own, where he could be a knight or a pirate or a soldier instead of a scrawny little boy.


Damien' Family:

Damien's mom, Elsie Ashfold, is a total neat freak. She has to keep everything in the house perfectly clean and orderly or she'll go nuts. She is hardly ever seen sitting down or relaxing. When she isn't at work, Elsie is constantly cleaning. She goes into sort of a daze when she's tidying things up, ignoring everything. The family has enough money to hire a maid, but they don't because cleaning gives Damien's mom time to think and keeps her from taking her stress from running the business out on the kids and Damien's father. Elsie has red hair and bright green eyes (unlike the rest of her family) that switch back and forth between anger and happiness quite often. A woman of 37, she's tall, muscular, and slim, and her nails are usually well-manicured and painted.

Damien's father, Xander Ashfold, is hardly ever seen exercising. Unlike Elsie who is constantly moving, the forty-three year old's usual spot is the soft leather couch when he's not at work. He is about six feet tall, with a belly that bulges over his belt. He has Damien's blonde hair, but unlike his son he has a buzz cut. Damien's father is really lazy and tells Elsie to get everything for him. One of his most famous quotes is, "I work hard to put a roof over this family's heads, don't I deserve any time to rest around here?"

Roman Ashfold, Damien's older brother, could honestly not be any more unlike Damien. Roman's 18, about 6 feet tall and very muscular. His shaggy blonde hair comes down to his shoulders, and it's usually pulled back in a ponytail behind his head. He's pretty much not afraid of anything except for clowns, and actually hopes to someday be in the Hunger Games. He loves to fight and loves training to be a Career, and loves to show off. He's not the sharpest tool in the shed, though, and probably couldn't solve a simple math problem if his life depended on it.
