Aluma Dane has curly brownish-black hair that falls just a bit past her shoulders. She has fairly large, pouty lips. Her nose is rather large and slightly upturned. Aluma's skin isn't usually tanned, since she burns easily. She can usually be found with sunburned skin, wincing out in pain whenever somebody touches it. Aluma is often told that she would be pretty if she just tried. But the problem is that she doesn't. Aluma's hair can usually be seen knotted and tangled, because she simply doesn't brush it.
Aluma's eyes are a dark, dark shade of brown. They're almost black. Her hands are full of blisters from the work out in the sun. She has quite a few whip marks on her back from the few times that she has attempted to steal away with some food for her starving family. Her eyes are rather small, and her eyebrows are very arched. She's rather tall for her age -standing at 5'10"- and very underweight -weighing only 120 pounds. People often compare her to some sort of sun-scorched demon due to her dark hair and eyes.
[P-E-R-S-O-N-A-L-I-T-Y]
Aluma is fierce. She gets worked up over the simplest of things, and often needs to be calmed down by her friends and family when she's in one of her rages. She's very protective of her family, and if you mess with one of them then you'll end up messed up yourself. Aluma is a quiet person. She has the brains to answer many questions that are raised, but she never makes the effort to answer them.
The tall girl is one that most people steer clear of. She's lonely most of the time, although she never lets anyone know it. The few people that she lets through to her even tend to be blocked away from time to time, just because that's the way her personality works. She has more enemies than friends. Aluma doesn't like getting close to people, believing that it's just another person who she'll get too protective over. So she lives in solitude.
Aluma can come across as hostile, although she's really just trying to protect herself and others. She often tenses up at any sign of physical affection. The dark haired girl simply gets lost in her work during the day. She lets the sun scorch her back and lets people whisper about how she looks and acts like a demon. When she's alone, though, she fumes about it.
[H-I-S-T-O-R-Y]
Aluma comes from a very poor family of five. Her mom, her dad, and her three younger siblings. They've never experienced any great loss. Ever since Aluma was young, however, she exhibited signs of defiance. She'd steal bread or vegetables once she heard that her family was starving. She'd explode with her opinions, which most people would say that she should keep to herself. She's been whipped publicly multiple times due to her ways.
Aluma's family mean the world to her. She loves them with all her heart. However, the same can't be said about her family. Her father believes that she's stupid, and that her outburst need to stop. He's threatened to throw her out before, he's even hit her before. This, of course, infuriates her. They often get into screaming fights that her mother has to break up. Her mother thinks the same way, although she doesn't act on it. She believes that her husband does that enough, if not too much.
Aluma Dane is a very skilled climber. When she feels the need to escape she'll simply climb up a tree and sing to the mockingjays, letting herself loosen up and become calm as they sing back to her. Her weight assists her climbing skills, as does her agile limbs. She often feels like she needs to escape after a long day, or when her father begins screaming at her. Aluma wishes that he'd understand that she's only trying to help. She longs to be loved, although she'd never let anybody see that.
