Appearance;;
Katya is typical for District 12 in that she has long, dark hair, grey-blue eyes and olive-toned skin. Let's go into more detail, shall we?
Hair;; Katya's hair is midlength, between her shoulder and waist, and coal-black in color. It would be glossy if not for the coal dust that is always floating in the air. She takes great pride in her hair, viewing it as her most attractive characteristic. She brushes it carefully each day, keeping it as neat as she can [meaning not very.]
Eyes;; Her eyes are called grey by some and blue by others, but she prefers to see them as grey herself.
Skin;; Her skin is fair-- Katya can't tan to save her life. She burns easily and is slightly olive- but it is only noticeable in certain lights.
Style;; Katya prefers loose, flowy yet practical clothing. If she could, she'd wear ballgowns but that is one dream she'll never see realized. Most days she wears simple black pants and a white blouse or t-shirt, kept as clean as possible.
Body;; Katya is about 5'8" and skinny but healthy. Being eight months pregnant, most of her energy and nutrients are directed into the baby, so she is skinnier and more sickly-looking than normal.
Personality;;
Katya is smart, brave, and tries to keep her family alive.
relationships;
her sister; Tatiana "Tanya" Reiren is almost like Katya's daughter. When their parents died(when Katya was 19) she began to take care of her little sister. Katya still thinks of her as a little girl, and is upset by how she's begun hanging out with older "bad kids". They still get along well though, and Tanya is Katya's world. Tanya and Trench do not get along, and Tanya thinks her sister is making a mistake by marrying him.
her boyfriend; Katya is dating(if you could call it that) and semi-engaged to Trench Hardeen. He is five years her junior, causing a small scandal in the District. They're happy, though, and that's all they care about. She is eight months pregnant with a baby. After finding she was pregnant they agreed to marry, quickly moving in together.
everyone else; Katya is friendly and well-liked within her community. As a child she was that 'perfect child' who everyone liked but nobody was close to. She obeyed her parents and did well in school. When she was nineteen, her parents were both killed in a mysterious mine accident. She took charge of her sister, soon becoming her legal guardian. That year she met Trench and they began dating. She lived quietly with Tanya until finding she was pregnant. She doesn't have many real friends, preferring to stay by herself or in a crowd. She is on good terms with nearly everyone, though a few people aren't happy with her because of her and Trench being together.
History
One;;
Once there was a couple nobody would have ever expected- The mayor's son, Endilo Reiren, and the Seam girl with a reputation, Raina Verre. They moved into a house around where the two sections of the District combine, and soon Raina was pregnant with Katya. The birth went without a hitch, and Katya was a healthy baby girl.
Two, Three, Four;;
Katya doesn't remember these years well- only faint things like her parents smiling at her, and a faint voice saying "Good night, darling."
Five, Six, Seven;;
These are the years Katya remembers- She started school and began to excel, making friends, having fun, and learning. She was one of the luckier girls in the District, having plenty of food and a nice house. She liked to go to the stream nearby her house and play there, finding tiny rocks in the sand. She built up a collection, polishing and cleaning them carefully. She still has the majority of them, and when she is stressed counting and rubbing the rocks makes her feel like everything is okay again.
Eight, Nine;;
Katya's perfect life continued. She got a kitten one birthday, and treated that cat like it was gold. She named her Tick, and didn't understand why her parents found the name funny.
Ten;;
This was the year the changes started. Katya's sister Titania was born, and Katya was jealous and hated her new sister with a passion. She started to do things she wasn't supposed to in an attempt to rebel.
Eleven, Twelve;;
The hatred continued. Katya began skipping school and going out to the older, abandoned mine shafts, where she and her so-called 'friends' would dare each other to go down. She was still the same girl on the inside, though, and felt like it wasn't right.
Thirteen, Fourteen;;
Katya began sneaking off with boys, soon gaining the label "slut" from her classmates. She was always in detention, and detested Tanya. She stopped talking to her parents other than when she had to, and hardly ever went to school. Her parents were still oblivious to her new life, and they still thought of her as their little angel.
Fifteen;;
Katya was the lowest of the low- she didn't even recognize herself anymore. She decided she needed to fix what she had done. She began to spend more time with her little sister and become a better influence. She stopped skipping school, and got her grades back up. She stopped going out with that group of friends, and stopped going out with boys the way she had before. She started talking to her parents again, telling them where she was going and asking their opinions on things. She started dressing more conservatively, wearing less makeup, changed how she wore her hair... She was almost a new girl.
Sixteen, Seventeen, Eighteen;;
Katya was back to being the girl she was expected to be, and loved it. She was essentially the model District 12 girl- good grades, pretty, well-behaved. She was stressed, though, and started to freak out on the inside, taking a blanket and her bucket of little rocks and locking herself in her closet.
Nineteen;;
This year Katya's parents were both killed instantly as a mine somehow exploded, trapping them inside. Katya soon hurried and was able to become legal guardian of a distraught Tanya. This was also the year Katya met Trench. They started to hang out, and soon began dating.
Twenty,Twenty-one;;
Katya kept dating Trench, much to Tanya's dismay. She ignored her, thinking it would never work out anyway. Tanya was ten, and she began to do badly in school, causing Katya to worry her sister was going down the same path she had years before.
Twenty-two;;
Katya found, much to her shock, that she was pregnant. She told Trench, and they moved in together. Titania demanded to know why, and when told, blew up. She was furious, and stormed out, not returning until the next day.
Twenty-three--NOW;;
Katya is eight months pregnant, still living with Trench. Tanya is still living in the house as well, though she and Trench dislike each other immensely. Katya is taking an absence from her work as a medic, planning to go back to work in a few months, as soon as the baby is old enough to be away from her.
