Shine is known for her nearly white hair that falls gently past her shoulders. She regularly visits the salon to copy a capitol-like style and adds pastel pink underneath her natural blonde. The style is modeled after her personal icing bag that she uses in the bakery. Her skin is fair and she a few dark moles on her face, which she calls beauty marks of course. She has large brown eyes and eyelashes that look like they've been surgically extended. Her height is average, if not a bit on the short side, and her weight is around 125lbs, which doesn't appear to be heavy. Shine used to have a bit of excess weight, but got it under control when her mother pointed it out. She certainly isn't muscular by any means, and actually prefers not to be since she finds muscles on women very unfeminine. Her lips are a bit thinner than society prefers, but she coats them regularly with glitter and gloss.

Shine, true to her name, accessorizes herself with a lot of glitter. She consistently wears tan, knit boots that come up above her ankle but below her knee. Her favorite dress is a loose fitted pink dress, matching the light color of her altered hair, that's light in material and has glitter imbedded in it. She will often wear a pastel yellow cover-up over the dress, to tone down her shine just a bit. She collects lockets and rarely lets anyone open them, not as if she has anything to hide because they don't contain anything. I suppose that might be the reason she doesn't show anyone, because she doesn't want anyone to know how alone she really is. She'll always wear at least three lockets around her neck, usually golden in color, all varying in lengths. Shine has a habit of padding her bra, since she is embarrassed of how flat-chested she is. She wants to be seen as sexy and thinks her lack of cleavage deters that.

Shine has a nickname around her school and she is best described as a sweetheart. It actually baffles her, because she doesn't really consider herself extra nice. She tells herself it's probably because she makes cupcakes. Cupcakes are always associated with sweetness. Shine tends to be outgoing and friendly, but she has her moments where she becomes a bit reclusive and prefers to be alone. She gets annoyed if she's around people constantly, there's really only so long someone can hold a smile after all. She falls in love way too easily, and if she ever was chosen for The Games, the first boy throw a wink her way would be the best bet to kill her. She tends to be shallow and will go after boys that are on the more attractive side. Her mother isn't overprotective, so Shine does enjoy privileges, such as sneaking out without actually having to do the sneaking part. She's no trouble-maker though. Her lack of curfew doesn't cause her to do anything reckless. Shine loves the capitol and wants very badly to have their lifestyle of extravagant parties and fashion. However, she'd probably never dye her own skin or do anything super crazy. She'll watch the television and think that a person would look better if they didn't get such a such procedure done, or another person really should get that procedure done. I suppose you could say Shine is pretty judgmental.

Shine isn't overly intelligent, but she wouldn't be described as a ditz either. Her grades in school are mid ranged because she'll get her work done, but tends to get distracted rather easily. She has a lot of acquaintances, and a few good friends. People getting close to her and getting to know her isn't a problem, and she'd probably much be friends with anyone. She's shallow when it comes to boyfriends, but it doesn't matter on a friendship level to her. She doesn't even mind kids her age training for the games. Even though she doesn't personally do it (and she's in the minority when it comes to that), she doesn't mind having friends that do. Maybe they'd volunteer for her if she was ever chosen. However, that would be a lot of guilt weighing on her shoulders.

Even though she lives in a career district, she has no interest in participating in The Hunger Games. Luckily, she has never had to sign up for tessera but considering her father was a contestant she does fear that one day her name will be pulled. She's not sure how she'd handle being put in that arena, but she spends a great amount of time thinking about it. Shine has no skills that would be handy, cannot wield a weapon, unless you count a spatula, and wouldn't be described as cunning. She'd probably just die in the initial bloodbath, she's no warrior and despite being from district 1, she's definitely no career.

Looking to the future, Shine hopes to continue on her mother's path of making famous cupcakes. She enjoys her life in District 1, but would move to the Captiol if by some chance that was ever an option. She understands the Captiol's reason for the games, even if she wants no part of it. Eventually, she'd like to settle down, hopefully with a handsome victor, and have children of her own.

Shine's mother, Glaise, and father, Hercules, met in school at the age of 15 and were a popular pair. Her mother was the daughter of a baker and a homemaker, and her father was the son of two factory workers. Hercules trained nearly every day for the games and never let Glaise interfere, they had a date every Sunday. Her mother was a lot like Shine, outgoing and vain, however her father was a little different. He had been training for The Hunger Games since he was a child and volunteered at the age of 18, when he felt he was ready. He wasn't. He died never knowing that his sweetheart back home was a few months pregnant with a baby girl. His death was not unlike other careers, down to last few and stabbed in the back by an ally. Literally. Stabbed in the back. Glaise never remarried or had other children and has made a successful career out of baking, owning a small bakery that specializes in cake and cupcakes that is very popular with the Peacekeepers and fellow community members alike. Of course Peacekeepers get their baked goods for free, for all they do for Panem.

Shine grew up with a fairly standard childhood, aside from lacking a parent. Her mother was very warm and since she ran a lucrative business she was able to provide Shine with anything she wanted, within reason. When Shine was a young girl her favorite thing to do was color on white aprons for her mother to wear at the shop. She still makes them for her and her mother, even though her artwork is rather sub-par.

Shine started to collect lockets when she was about six years old. It started when her friend from school was showing Shine her collection of butterflies, so she wanted to start a collection of something too. She wasn't keen on the idea of collecting living things so she came up with a better idea for a collection. Shine decided to go with lockets because they were pretty, her mother always wore one around her neck with her father's picture in it.

Her mother happily talks about her father to Shine. Hercules was always a bit of a show-off. True to his name, he was very strong, having trained all his life. Unfortunately, he was also very trusting and rather naive, just like Shine. Shine's mother doesn't blame the capitol for her boyfriend's death, she considers it honorable to die for glory. When Shine was younger her mother tried to introduce her to the idea of training for the games, and Shine wanted no part in that. Being spoiled, and seeing that her daughter just wanted to live her life as a normal girl and have fun, she respected that and didn't push it. However she does fear for her daughter once a year during the reaping, knowing she's ill-equipped.

I just want to mention that this is my first time joining a roleplaying site (if you don't include something I did when I was like 14 and had no clue what to write hah). I read The Hunger Games and instantly fell in love and wanted to create my own character for the series for fun. So, in all, I'm a very amateur roleplayer, but willing to learn because of my love for these books. Also, I noticed there was already a "Shine" in District 1. If I need to change my character's name, I could do that. Shine Sieve was just what I came up with before I ever saw this site.
