He pushes his tangled chocolate curls out of his face the best he can, but the long length make it hard to do. The smart thing to do is to cut it off, but he likes it long, he likes it wild. The maze, to him, is mysterious. With a forehead free of blemishes, but a little on the large side, his hair makes it look more appropriately sized. His eyebrows represent quality, and not quantity. Thick as they are, they are never uncontrollable. The shape of them is what makes them so boring and plain. Straight lines that lay above his intriguing eyes. His eyes are as childish and playful as his colorful personality. One moment they may be cloudy and grey, the next an aqua blue, and occasionally, a bright shade of green. Outlined in thin eyelashes, they sometimes look crazed and hysterical, rather than playful.

His nose is on the bigger side, especially when he is laughing or when he is angry, which is about as common as a snake snuggling with a mouse. The tip of it points downward ever so slightly, but it goes well with it's over all round shape. His mouth is his most favorite appendage. Dark pink clouds that hide pearly white teeth, and an incredible voice is a favorable feature for anybody to have, he is lucky enough to have it. When he smiles, he tends to let the smile grow more on one side than on the other. It makes him look playful, yet seductive. His childish jawline doesn't fit well with his square chin if you ask him. He says the two features don't go together.

He has a broad chest and thick arms that he earned after working hard in both his job, and home life. His left wrist is always wrapped in a stringy, multicolored bracelet his older brother gave to him. His fingers are long, and the last two on his left hand are arched from when they broke when he was eleven. To him, they look gross, yet cool. He himself likes them, but tries to hide them from his friends as much as possible. His legs are long and fit for running long distances. Or at least they appear that way. His knees ache like nothing you've ever imagined after excessive playing. His feet are larger than most his age. He wears a size twelve and he is only fifteen.

He prefers to wear collared shirts more than anything else, and usually pink, purple or red in color. He does like wearing blue and green, but he only wears them when going somewhere nice, as well as his brother's old dressing jacket, and some black pants. He usually wears denim pants or cargo shorts, it just depends on the weather.

Gavin could probably laugh about any situation at hand, in theory. Of course, you wouldn't find him cracking up in the middle of a funeral, but he is a happy person. He likes to find the light in a situation, rather than sit and dwell on the sadness in life. He and his twin brother, are both this way, and always have been. He is like this because he wants to escape. He wants to escape from everything. He wanted to escape from his parents when he was young, he wants to escape from District Seven now. This District is great, sure. It has his brothers and sisters, and it has his friends, but it holds no future of happiness for him. He is only fifteen, and he can tell that much is true. He doesn't want to spend every day out in the sun cutting down trees, or in a loud paper mill that never starts to smell any better than it always had. He sure as hell doesn't want to be a gardener anymore. There are times when he isn't sure if he can go any further, but he forces himself to do it, and with a smile on his face.

Gavin doesn't want any of those things because he wants to be a singer. It embarrasses the hell out of him, but he has always wanted to be one. When he was younger, he flaunted his singing abilities to anybody that would sit still and listen long enough. Now, he only sings when he is alone, or on really special occasions. He sung once on Kyle's birthday, but only because it was the only thing she wanted from him and Quentin, and he felt like it was the least he could do. Gavin and Quentin are, and have always been so close to each other that they practically share a brain. Might as well, they shared a womb. Lately though, Gavin has been keeping secrets from him. Like, his wanting to leave home. Gavin knows that if he tells Quentin, their entire friendship may go to hell, and to him, any friendship is worth keeping a few things in the dark over. Gavin always tries to be a good friend, the problem is that he messes up a lot. It isn't a big surprise if he forgets a birthday, or forgets he is supposed to be covering for a friend at work. He is forgetful.

Gavin is a hard worker. Forget the fact that he hates being a gardener, because it doesn't matter. Not to him, because he isn't going to give up. He has a drive, and a pride that won't allow him to stop until the job is finished. He gets quiet when he is focused. He can be working for four or five hours, and only mumble a few words through out the entire time. He does this because in the back of his mind he thinks he'll forget something that he was supposed to do, like watering some plants after he planted them, for instance. It happened once, and he never made the mistake again. Now, he has forgotten to go to work a few times, but at least when he is there he does his best.

Unlike anybody else, Gavin doesn't really enjoy the satisfaction of improvement after a hard day's work, but he won't admit it. To him, there is always something else that needs to be done. he and Quentin only fight when Gavin keeps pushing him to finish the job. Gavin can't help it. He wants the work to be over. He wants it to stop. So, he gets angry when people want to take the maximum amount of breaks, and joke around. Gavin loves to play and laugh just as much as the next person, but not when there is work to be done.

After work is over, Gavin becomes himself. He gets his happy-go-lucky, playful attitude back. Playing pranks is something that Gavin both likes, and is very gifted at doing. He lets his imagination go wild with pranks. Anything he can do, and not get into to much trouble over, he will do it. Well, sometimes he even does the stuff that he'll be punished for.

Gavin William Barker was the third child born into the Barker family. Of course, his twin brother, Quentin, was only a few minutes behind him, but he still counts himself as the third born. Royce and Kyle were only mere toddlers when they were born, so they weren't there to take the beatings for Gavin or Quentin when they were young. All four of the children suffered abuse all through their childhood. Only a year later, little Lucy was born. She was so young and innocent that their parents avoided hurting her as much as possible. Royce was only four, so he and Kyle were always getting themselves into trouble. When Gavin was three, Mr. and Mrs.Barker has another baby in the form of Ashton. Royce was six, so he was beginning to see how wrong everything was, how badly they were being treated. It was then five year old Kyle, though, that allowed herself to be slapped and bruised for Ash. She took a natural liking to him, always taking his side in little arguments as they all grew older.

By the time the twins were eight or nine, Royce was beginning to take the blame for all of their mistakes, and he was also suffering the consequences. Taking the blame for four other children who are constantly messing up was a lot to ask of anybody, and yet Royce was eleven, twelve years old, and doing it without anybody even asking him to. Another two years, and Kyle was doing the same. The two of them protected their siblings at all costs, even when they couldn't protect themselves. Over time, Gavin and Quentin also protected the two little ones. All four of the oldest Barker children wanted to make sure Lucy and Ash didn't suffer like they did. They protected them at all costs.

In school, nobody knew that all of the children were suffering. They didn't know that Gavin was taking beatings so that his little brother and sister wouldn't have to. They thought Gavin was the happy-go-lucky guy he pretended to be. He has always popular, actually. He and Quentin were argualby one of the most popular kids in school, and it was only because nobody knew their secret. It stayed like that, too.

Of course, as the children got older, they got abused les and less. Mr. and Mrs. Barker began getting afraid that the children would fight back. They didn't, ofcourse, but they decided to back off before they did. It was probably a good choice, because if a childhood of abuse does anything to a person, it teaches them to stay stong, even when they can't. To this day, nobody knows what the Barker children went through.
